Arrest, Route 101, Exeter, NH

On Thursday, May 07, 2020, at approximately 12:29 am, Trooper Peter Sankowich of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A was monitoring traffic on Route 101 in the vicinity of Exit 12, in the Town of Exeter, NH. At that time, he observed a Silver Subaru Forester pass him traveling eastbound at 93 MPH. Trooper Sankowich caught up to the vehicle, which was now traveling at 109 mph, near the I-95 overpass and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

As the vehicle came to a stop in the vicinity of Exit 13 in Hampton, Trooper Sankowich exited his cruiser to make contact with the driver. As he did so, the driver fled the traffic stop and drove eastbound on Route 101. Trooper Sankowich was again able to catch up to the vehicle and a pursuit ensued as the driver failed to stop for his emergency lights and siren. As this pursuit continued, the driver reversed direction on Route 101 in Hampton and significant lane control issues were observed by Trooper Sankowich.

The driver reversed direction once again at Exit 10, after driving on the wrong side of Newfields Road in Exeter, and got back onto Route 101 eastbound. As the pursuit merged back onto Route 101, additional Troopers were able to deploy stop sticks and deflate the front driver's side tire of the suspect vehicle. The pursuit continued eastbound on Route 101 for a short distance until the vehicle came to a stop at Exit 12.

The driver was taken into custody without further incident. She was identified as Trista WHITE, age 35 of Plaistow, NH. Ms. White was charged with Aggravated DWI, Reckless Conduct, Reckless Operation, and Disobeying an Officer. She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear on June 18, 2020, at 1:00 pm, in the Rockingham County Superior Court for arraignment.

Assisting The New Hampshire State Police Troop-A with this incident were the Hampton and Exeter Police Departments.
