Assault and Stabbing
Madbury, New Hampshire – On Wednesday, June 14, 2022, at approximately 5:48 PM, Troopers assigned to the New Hampshire State Police Troop A Barracks responded to the area of Bunker Lane in the Town of Madbury for a report of a physical altercation involving two male individuals. Upon arrival, the involved individuals had been separated and it was determined that one of them had sustained multiple stab wounds. This individual was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The second individual, identified as Paul Howard, age 36, of Madbury, NH, was transported to the Dover Emergency Room for treatment of minor injuries.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Howard was arrested a short time later and charged with four counts of First Degree Assault. Following his arrest, Howard was transported to the Strafford County House of Corrections where he refused the services of a bail commissioner and remained held pending an arraignment in Strafford County Superior Court on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. This investigation remains ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.
The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by the Madbury Police Department, the University of New Hampshire Police Department, the Madbury Fire Department, the Durham Fire Department, the Dover Fire Department, and the McGregor Memorial EMS.
