Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash Shuts Down I-89 North
Hopkinton, New Hampshire – On March 27, 2023, at approximately 5:12 AM, State Police received calls about a commercial motor vehicle that struck the guardrail and overturned blocking I-89 northbound at mile marker 8.6. The commercial motor vehicle was traveling in the right lane as it approached a right-hand curve in the roadway and struck the right-hand guardrail. The driver overcorrected resulting in the truck overturning and coming to rest, blocking both lanes of travel. The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and extricated from the truck by Trooper First Class Myrdek from the Troop D barracks. The driver was evaluated at the scene by Hopkinton and Concord Fire and Rescue and transported to a local hospital as a result of his injuries.
The interstate was shut down for approximately 2 hours until the truck could be safely removed from the roadway. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in this crash.
New Hampshire State Police Troop D was assisted on scene by the New Hampshire State Police Troop G Commercial Motor Carrier Unit, Hopkinton Fire and Rescue, Concord Fire and Rescue, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and Matt Brown’s Towing.
