Crash Involving Commercial Motor Vehicle Carrying Trash
Barrington, New Hampshire – On February 21, 2023, at approximately 5:00 AM, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop G - Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit were requested to assist members of the Barrington Police Department with a reported commercial motor vehicle related crash in the area of 1253 Franklin Pierce Highway. Responding personnel observed a 2009 Peterbilt tractor with attached trailer, resting on its side with the cab of the vehicle against a tree. The crash resulted in the contents of the trailer, household trash, being emptied across the roadway.
The operator of the tractor-trailer David Garon, Age: 67, Lyndeborough, NH, was uninjured in the crash. The operator was cited for excessive speed and the vehicle was placed out-of-service due to debilitating damage. An out-of-service order is given to a commercial driver or vehicle that violates a certain set of conditions with the purpose to protect the public from imminent safety hazards. The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours while crews clean the area. New Hampshire State Police Troop G were assisted by members of Barrington Police Department, Barrington Fire Department, Department of Environmental Services and Duval's Towing and Garage.

The Troop G – Motor Carrier Unit is comprised of trained and experienced commercial motor vehicle examiners who are certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to conduct inspections. Their primary mission is to ensure the safety of the motoring public by focusing their enforcement efforts on Commercial Motor Vehicles. Their work supports the education and adherence of Motor Carriers to the federal regulations that support commerce and keep our roadways safe for all.
