Crash Involving Commercial Motor Vehicle Results in Arrest

commercial vehicle involved in hopkinton crashHopkinton, New Hampshire – On March 7, 2023, at approximately 11:15 PM, Troopers from New Hampshire State Police Troop G - Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit were requested to assist members of the Hopkinton Police Department with a reported commercial motor vehicle related crash occurring at a business on Maple Street in Hopkinton. Upon learning that Troop G was responding to conduct an inspection, the operator of the tractor-trailer unit, owned and operated by Franklin Trucking, LLC of Windsor, Connecticut

Jermayne Eubanks, age 42, of Tolland, CT. attempted to drive off, striking a cement pole and an exit gate, causing a second crash. The second crash resulted in significant property damage and caused the front axle of the trailer to become disconnected. Subsequently, the operator attempted to flee on foot, resulting in his arrest by the Hopkinton Police Department for RSA 264:25 Conduct After Accident, RSA 265:79 Reckless Driving and RSA 631:3 Reckless Conduct.

Several motor carrier violations were observed, resulting in the vehicle being placed out-of-service. An out-of- service order is given to a commercial driver or vehicle that violates a certain set of conditions with the purpose to protect the public from imminent safety hazards. New Hampshire State Police – Troop G were assisted by members of Troop D and the Hopkinton Police Department.

Driver inattention is believed to be a factor in the crash. State Police is requesting that anyone who may have information, or witnessed the crash, contact the Hopkinton Police Department at (603) 746-5151.

The Troop G – Motor Carrier Unit is comprised of trained and experienced commercial motor vehicle examiners in the state of New Hampshire who are certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Their primary mission is to ensure the safety of the motoring public by focusing their enforcement efforts on Commercial Motor Vehicles. Their work supports the education and adherence of Motor Carriers to the federal regulations that support commerce and keep our roadways safe for all.
