Crash Involving State Police Cruiser

MERRIMACK, New Hampshire – On January 4, 2024, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Trooper Tyler Duhamel responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack in the area of mile marker 13.8. While the Trooper was parked and inside his cruiser in the breakdown lane, he was struck from behind by a pick-up truck.

The Trooper was accompanied by his K-9 partner, Ivy, when his cruiser was struck. Both were uninjured in the crash.

The driver of the pick-up truck involved was identified as Anthony Remillard, age 39 of Chester, New Hampshire. Remillard was not injured.

The crash resulted in substantial delays in the morning commuting traffic. Traffic was backed up approximately five miles through the Bedford Tolls which resulted in two other crashes on the Turnpike during this timeframe. The right lane was closed for approximately one hour while the roadway was cleaned up.

This crash remains under investigation. The State Police is asking for anyone who witnessed the crash or has further information to contact Sergeant Mark Dore at Mark.R.Dore@dos.nh.gov, or State Police Dispatch at (603) 223-4381.
