Deadly Crash Investigation

TROY, N.H. – One person is deceased following a crash in Troy this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, just before midnight, State Troopers from the Troop C barracks in Keene were notified of a crash on New Hampshire Route 12 in the area of Lawrence Road.

Upon arrival, Troopers located a vehicle that had gone off the road and struck a large boulder, causing the vehicle to overturn. Members of the Keene Fire Department and Troy Ambulance performed life-saving measures on the driver of the vehicle but were unsuccessful, and the driver succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. There were no passengers.

The driver is identified as Stephen Despinosa, 54, of Troy.

While alcohol impairment appears to be a contributing factor, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Troy Fire Department, Keene Fire Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
