Death Investigation At Jenness Pond
Marine Patrol
NORTHWOOD, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol is investigating the death of an adult male at a pond in Northwood.
At approximately 5:37 p.m. today, September 4, 2024, Marine Patrol responded to a residence on Jenness Pond for a reported drowning. It was reported that an adult male was found not conscious and not breathing in the water in front of a camp. The victim was discovered by a family member, who immediately called 911 and began life-saving measures. Emergency personnel continued life-saving efforts once they arrived, but the adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as George Chapman, 68, of Concord. The initial investigation indicates Chapman may have suffered a medical episode before falling into the water from a dock.
Marine Patrol was assisted at the scene by members of the Northwood Police Department, Northwood Fire and Rescue Department, the Pittsfield Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
