Driver Arrested For DWI After Crash Involving A State Trooper

WOLFEBORO, N.H. – At 8:23 a.m. today, May 15, 2024, members of the Wolfeboro Police Department and State Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a State Police cruiser on Route 28 in Wolfeboro.
Upon their arrival on scene, it was determined that Trooper Nathan Cobis, of the Troop E barracks in Tamworth, had been traveling south on Route 28. While Trooper Cobis attempted to stop a vehicle, with his emergency lights activated, a Chevrolet SUV pulled out in front of him from Northline Road and a crash occurred.
During the course of the investigation, the driver of the Chevrolet SUV, identified as Diane Alger, 71, of Wolfeboro, said she had consumed alcohol before the crash. She was subsequently arrested by the Wolfeboro Police Department for driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Alger was uninjured as a result of the crash and was transported to Huggins Hospital for a DWI blood test. Trooper Cobis was also taken to Huggins Hospital for evaluation of injuries resulting from this crash.
