Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident - Interstate 95 Southbound, Hampton

photo showing damage to Porsche CayenneOn Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at approximately 4:23 p.m., the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Interstate 95 in the Town of Hampton. The incident was determined to be a single vehicle crash, with a single occupant, within the median of the highway at the Hampton / Hampton Falls Town line.

Preliminary investigation shows that 62 year old William E. Kois of Newburyport, Massachusetts was traveling southbound before leaving the roadway just prior to the Taylor River (mile marker 3.8). The vehicle, a 2013 Porsche Cayenne, continued along the center grass median for approximately forty yards before striking a metal guardrail. While all aspects of this incident remain under investigation, it is believed that a medical event lead to Kois' deviation from the roadway and ultimate collision.

Kois was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. New Hampshire State Police were assisted on scene by the Hampton Police Department as well as Hampton Fire and Rescue.

This accident is being investigated by Trooper James Powers of the New Hampshire State Police / Troop A. Anyone that may have further information related to this accident is asked to contact Trooper James Powers at james.powers@dos.nh.gov or via telephone at 603-679-3333.
