Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision, Route 25 Wentworth, New Hampshire
On 6 July 2020 at approximately 7:15 am, the New Hampshire State Police received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Route 25 in Wentworth. Responding Troopers from Troops F and G found the following individual deceased at the scene:
John Hope Jr.
Age 65
Keene, NH
The preliminary investigation revealed that Hope had just left a local lumber yard carrying a load of lumber on a flatbed trailer. The vehicle was travelling west as it entered a sharp left curve in the roadway. The vehicle drove over the white fog line at the beginning of the curve and then made a drastic turn to the left in what appeared to be an attempt to remain on the roadway. Such a drastic change of direction caused the vehicle to tip over onto the passenger side and then roll over onto the roof.
There is no cell phone service in that areas, so it is not believed that cell phone use was a distractor, however, all factors are still being considered and the investigation is still on going.
Anyone with further information or who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact Trooper Sean Smarz at 603-223-8707 or sean.smarz@dos.nh.gov.
The New Hampshire State Police-Troop F was assisted on scene by members of the New Hampshire State Police Troop G, the Warren/Wentworth Ambulance, the Rumney Fire Department and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
