Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
BRIDGEWATER, New Hampshire – On September 4, 2023, at approximately 9:43 a.m., the Bridgewater Police Department responded to Mayhew Turnpike for a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2003 Subaru Legacy was traveling northbound on Mayhew Turnpike when it entered the breakdown lane and struck a pedestrian. The identity of the driver of the Subaru is known to investigators but is being withheld at this time as the driver is 16 years old.
The pedestrian that was struck was identified as:
Donald Estes
Age: 89
Bridgewater, NH
Donald Estes was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
At the request of the Bridgewater Police Department, the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene and assumed the lead of the investigation. The C.A.R. Unit was assisted on scene by New Hampshire State Police Troop F, the Bridgewater Fire Department and Bristol EMS.
