Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash - Interstate 93 North, Manchester
On September 8, 2021 at approximately 5:40am, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 North in Manchester at mile marker 19.6, just prior to the exit 6 off ramp. Initial reports from witnesses advised that a motorcycle had struck the rear end of a box truck.
Upon arrival it was determined that a 2006 Yamaha V-Star had cut across several travel lanes and struck the rear end of a box truck. The motorcycle then collided with the guardrail in the right breakdown lane where the operator was ejected, and sustained fatal injuries. The motorcycle then crossed all lanes under its own momentum, coming to final rest in the center median. The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Sean MacDonald, Age 28, Manchester, NH.
The operator of the box truck, identified as Cody Hannaford, Age 26, Alton, NH was not injured in the crash and was able to drive the box truck from the scene.
The right travel lane remained closed for approximately two hours while State Police personnel processed the scene.
Assisting New Hampshire State Police were members of Troop G, Commercial Vehicle Unit, members of the Manchester Fire Department and EMS and members from the Derry New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
