Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Dover
Troop A
DOVER, N.H. – On Monday, September 2, 2024, at approximately 12:48 p.m., State Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks responded to Route 16 Southbound (Spaulding Turnpike) in the City of Dover for a motorcycle crash with serious injury. Troopers determined that the initial crash involved a single motorcycle, identified as a 2013 Harley Davidson, driven by Jason Emerzian, 44, of Exeter, NH. Emerzian was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. The motorcycle was also occupied by a passenger, who was transported to an area hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Harley Davidson motorcycle had been traveling South along Route 16, and for reasons that remain under investigation, Emerzian lost control of the motorcycle and struck the center median guardrail. This crash resulted in both riders being thrown from the motorcycle. Once separated from the motorcycle, Emerzian was struck by another passing vehicle.
As Troopers investigated the scene, both Southbound lanes of Route 16 were closed for approximately one hour. Members of Troop A were assisted by Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police – Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, the Dover Police Department, the Dover Fire Department, the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and Eddie B’s Towing and Recovery Service.
All aspects of this crash remain under further investigation by Sergeant Wood. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Sergeant Wood at Gary.J.Woodjr@DOS.NH.GOV.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this news release had the incorrect age for the driver of the motorcycle. It has been updated.
