Newport, New Hampshire – On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Ricardo Vera, 38 of Grantham, was sentenced to 11.5 - 23 years in state prison pursuant to a plea agreement in Sullivan County Superior Court for possession of child sexual abuse material. Vera has the ability to suspend 2 years of his minimum sentence upon completion of sexual offender programming at the New Hampshire State Prison.
On January 28, 2021 members of the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force lead by Detectives from New Hampshire State Police Troop C arrested Vera as a result of a lengthy investigation. The case was prosecuted by the Sullivan County Attorney’s Office which culminated with Vera pleading guilty today to several charges including Possession and Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Images.
The investigation into Vera initiated with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which indicated the illegal use of computers and alleged possession and/or distribution of sexual abuse images of prepubescent children from within this residence.
The NH ICAC Task Force is a multiagency, multijurisdictional organization that has developed responses to prevent, interdict, investigate and prosecute Internet crimes against children.
