Incident at Post Office
Salisbury, New Hampshire – On June 15, 2022 at approximately 1:56 AM New Hampshire State Police Troop D received a report of a vehicle that had driven off the roadway in the area of 273 Old Turnpike Road in the town of Salisbury, NH. Fire and EMS personnel that arrived on scene reported that they heard two individuals believed to be inside of the Post Office building not far from the scene. Troopers arrived on scene at the Post Office building and quickly secured the area. A male individual came out of the Post Office and was taken into custody without incident. After verbal commands from Troopers, a female individual was also taken into custody. They were later identified as Michael O’Brien of Fair Haven, VT, Age: 35, and Courtney Samplatsky of Fair Haven, VT, Age: 34.
Samplatsky and O’Brien fled the scene of the crash and ran to the Post Office building where they broke a pane glass window and made entry. In order to maintain security for the scene, the roadway was shut down in the area of Route 4 between Route 127 and Rabbit Road for several hours. New Hampshire State Police SWAT and EOD were utilized to clear the Post Office building.
During the course of the investigation, New Hampshire State Police was notified that both Samplatsky and O’Brien were persons of interest in a homicide investigation in Rutland City, VT. Samplatsky and O’Brien are being held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections pending their arraignment out of the Merrimack Superior Court on charges for Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Conduct after an accident and Fugitive from Justice.
New Hampshire State Police was assisted on scene by Salisbury Fire and EMS, the Franklin Police Department, the Boscawen Police Department and New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
