Motor Vehicle Crash
Auburn, New Hampshire – On April 10, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop A Barracks responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 101 West in the Town of Auburn. It was reported that a male operator was outside his vehicle and had been struck by another motorist.
On scene investigation found that a 2006 Subaru Forester was operated by Cody Douglas, Age: 23, Lyndeborough, NH when the vehicle became disabled on the left side of the roadway, coming to rest against the guardrail and partially in the high-speed lane. Douglas got out of the vehicle in attempt to remedy the vehicle troubles when it was struck by a 2023 Ford Transit Van, subsequently pushing the Subaru into him, and sending him airborne.
The Ford Transit Van was being operated by Timothy Philbrick, Age: 56, Merrimack, NH. Due to the sustained damage and inability to brake, Philbrick's vehicle continued traveling for approximately one quarter of a mile before coming to final rest on the right side of the roadway.
Both operators were transported to a local area hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The travel lanes of Route 101 West were shut down for approximately one and a half hours while the crash was investigated, and the removal of the involved vehicles could be arranged. The flow of traffic was limited to the breakdown lane during that time.
During the investigation, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop A were assisted by the Auburn Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, and the Candia Fire Department.
This crash remains under investigation and anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Seth Parker at Seth.W.Parker@dos.nh.gov.
