Motor Vehicle Crash with Serious Bodily Injury
NEW HAMPTON, New Hampshire – On December 31, 2023, at approximately 4:51 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop D barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 South in New Hampton. Initial reports alleged a multiple vehicle crash, with a rollover, ejection of multiple occupants and a possible ejected infant who could not be located.
Once on scene Troopers identified a single vehicle that was involved in the crash. It was identified that three of the five occupants of the vehicle had been ejected during a rollover crash. Fire and EMS responders performed lifesaving efforts on all occupants of the vehicle. The Interstate was shut down for approximately an hour and a half to facilitate the DART Helicopter landing on the highway to transport an occupant to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
All occupants of the vehicle were transported to four area hospitals. Three of the five passengers have life threatening injuries.
All aspects of this crash remain under investigation. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this crash. Once the interstate was reopened after the DART departure, the travel lane remained closed for approximately three hours to conduct a roadside investigation.
Troop D was assisted extensively on scene by the State Police CAR Unit, New Hampton Fire/EMS, Sanbornton Fire/EMS, Ashland Fire/EMS, Meredith Fire/EMS, Stewarts Ambulance, New Hampton Police, Sanbornton Police, NH Department of Transportation and New Hampton Towing.
If any citizens have information or were a witness to this crash, please contact Trooper Griffin at Tyler.L.Griffin@dos.nh.gov or (603) 451-9313.
Update: All occupants of the vehicle, including the infant are in stable condition. No additional updates are expected to be released.
