Motor Vehicle Pursuit
Concord, New Hampshire – On September 26, 2022, at approximately 11:30 PM, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop D Barracks were advised of a motor vehicle pursuit traveling south on Route 106, which had originated in the town of Belmont. As the pursuit continued south, Troopers were able to position themselves with spike strips to assist the Belmont Police Department. Trooper McGregor was able to successfully deploy spike strips on Route 106, in the area of Interstate 393. The operator of the vehicle was later identified as: Tyler W. Hoyt, Age: 28, Concord, NH.
Troopers and officers from the Belmont Police Department took Hoyt into custody following a short foot pursuit, after Hoyt drove his off the roadway on Loudon Road, near the Chichester town line, in Concord. A female passenger in the vehicle was found to have an active Electronic Bench Warrant (EBW) and was also arrested.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a false bomb threat had been reported to the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office from the NH Motor Speedway while the pursuit was still happening, in an attempt to draw attention away from the suspect vehicle. The Loudon Police Department is investigating those allegations further. The New Hampshire State Police was assisted by the Belmont, Gilmanton, Chichester and Loudon Police Departments.
Hoyt was arrested by the Belmont Police Department on charges stemming from the pursuit, and was also charged by Trooper McSweeney for Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Drug, and Falsifying Physical Evidence. He is ordered to appear in the Merrimack County Superior Court, and was held at the Belknap County Jail pending his arraignment. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Trooper Thomas McSweeney at (603) 223-4381 or Thomas.R.McSweeney@dos.nh.gov.
