Motor Vehicle Rollover Crash in Manachester

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – On June 9, 2022, at approximately 10:35 AM, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks, along with Officers from the Manchester Police Department and medical personnel from the Manchester Fire Department responded to the report of a two-vehicle crash, with rollover, on Interstate 93 Southbound near mile marker 20.8 in Manchester.
Initial investigation determined that a red Subaru Impreza became disabled for unknown mechanical reasons, in a lane of travel with its hazards illuminated.  A black GMC Sierra pick-up truck, driving in the same lane was unable to avoid the disabled Subaru, striking it from behind. The truck then lost control, veered off the roadway, through the guardrail and rolled multiple times, coming to rest down the embankment onto Hanover St. The operator of the pick-up truck:

Fabricio Defaria
Age: 40
Male
Holliston, MA

was ejected during the rollover process and came to rest next to his vehicle. He was transported to the Elliot Hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. The operator of the Subaru:

Karen Shankle
Age: 23
Female
Manchester, NH

and her infant passenger were uninjured in the crash.

All aspects remain under investigation. State Police is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Trooper Ryan Hajjar at Ryan.J.Hajjar@dos.nh.gov or by voicemail at (603) 223-8760.
