Motorcycle Crash Results In Serious Injuries
Troop A
DOVER, N.H. – A motorcyclist was seriously injured following a crash on the Spaulding Turnpike.
On Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., State Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks responded to the area of Exit 7 in Dover, on the southbound side of the turnpike, for a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle, operated by Yorky Acosta Hernandez, 20, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, had been traveling southbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, Hernandez lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a curve, resulting in the motorcycle departing the left side of the road and striking a guardrail located in the center median.
Following the initial impact with the guardrail, the motorcycle continued traveling south for a short distance, during which time Hernandez was thrown from the motorcycle. Hernandez and the motorcycle eventually came to rest in the travel portion of the highway. Hernandez was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Members of Troop A were assisted at the scene by members of the City of Dover Fire & Rescue and Eddie B Towing & Recovery. While Troopers investigated the scene, the Spaulding Turnpike was completely closed to traffic for approximately one hour in the area of the crash. The scene was ultimately cleared and all lanes of travel were reopened at 9:58 p.m.
All aspects of the crash remain under further investigation by Trooper Kevin Ledoux of the Troop A barracks. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Ledoux via email at Kevin.P.Ledoux@DOS.NH.GOV.
