Motorcyclist Dies After Crash In Windsor

Troop B

WINDSOR, N.H. – One person is deceased after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck hauling a trailer.

Just before 6 p.m. yesterday, Sept. 14, 2024, State Troopers assigned to the Troop B barracks responded to a report of a crash with serious injuries near 1347 Second New Hampshire Turnpike in Windsor.

The preliminary investigation has determined that a red 2004 Chevrolet 2500, driven by Paul T. Sousa Jr., 32, of Weare, was making a left turn onto an unpaved residential driveway when a motorcyclist, identified as Scott A. Richer, 55, of Manchester, attempted to overtake the pickup truck, which was hauling a trailer, by crossing the double yellow line and passing the vehicle on the left side. Richer, who was operating a black 2017 Harley Davidson Street Glide, subsequently crashed into the side of the turning pickup and was thrown from his motorcycle before becoming trapped under the trailer. Good Samaritans joined Sousa in raising the trailer and freeing Richer from underneath.  Life-saving measures were then performed on Richer before he was rushed to Concord Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of the Hillsboro Police Department, Hillsboro Fire Department, and Henniker Fire and Rescue. The Second New Hampshire Turnpike was closed in the area of the crash for approximately two hours while the scene was processed.

Witnesses have reported that a second motorcyclist was riding with Richer at the time of the crash and left the scene before police arrived. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including the identity of the second motorcyclist, is asked to contact Trooper Noah Brown at (603) 451-7882. All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
