Motorcyclist Observed At 141 MPH Among Nearly 30 Excessive Speed Violators Stopped By Troopers During Enforcement Effort
BOW, N.H. – A motorcyclist driving as fast as 141 mph was among more than two dozen drivers stopped by State Troopers during a traffic enforcement effort on Interstate 93.
Earlier today, June 16, the Special Enforcement Unit’s aircraft was used to spot excessive speeding violators. During the initiative, Troopers stopped a total of 30 vehicles traveling southbound on I-93 in Bow.
Of the 30 vehicles stopped, 28 were traveling more than 90 mph. Nine of the 28 vehicles exceeded 100 mph. Several other violations were also observed and enforced, including operating after suspension and vehicle inspection requirements.
Just before 8:30 a.m., Sgt. Jay LaPointe, who was in the aircraft observing traffic, had his attention drawn to a motorcycle traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of surrounding traffic. Sgt. LaPointe observed the motorcycle operating at speeds between 124 mph and 141 mph while passing other vehicles. Sgt. LaPointe notified Trooper Scott Garton on the ground, who was able to stop the motorcyclist, identified as Aaron LaFlower, 21, of Belmont.
LaFlower was arrested and charged with reckless operation. LaFlower was processed and released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on July 26.
The Special Enforcement Unit within the New Hampshire State Police focuses on enforcing traffic laws, promoting highway safety and reducing crashes. The unit is equipped with advanced technology and tools to effectively monitor and enforce traffic laws, including a Cessna 182 aircraft.
“Excessive speeding is dangerous and claims innocent lives,” said Capt. Matthew Amatucci. “The State Police will continue to conduct enforcement operations to improve road safety for all residents and visitors.”
