MV Crash, Road Closure - Interstate 293, Manchester
On March 3rd, 2022 at approximately 3:40am, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on I-293 South in Manchester at mile marker 9.0. Troopers arrived to find a pickup truck on its side and a utility trailer off into the woods. The crash had caused a tree to fall across the right hand travel lane. That tree was subsequently struck by a motorist as Troopers were arriving on scene. This crash also caused an extensive debris field consisting of thousands of nails, tools and construction equipment that had been strewn across both southbound travel lanes.
The Truck was a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, Color; Black. The truck and utility trailer were driven by Worster, Matthew, 51 years old, Merrimack NH.
Worster sustained minor injuries in the crash. The road was closed for over an hour while emergency crews worked to clear the debris and the tree out of the roadway. Troopers were assisted at the scene by NH DOT as well as Manchester Fire and Rescue.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Worster had been driving after being deemed to be a Habitual Offender by the Director of Motor Vehicles and was taken into custody. However, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
Anyone with information pertaining to the crash are asked to contact Trooper Luan Sanches at NH State Police Troop B at 603-271-3636.
