Overturned Cement Truck - Interstate 93 South, Hooksett, NH
On October 17, 2019, at approximately 1:01 pm, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop B Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 93 southbound, south of the Hooksett Tolls.
The Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Honda Accord, driven by Ashwayne Rose, age 19, of Manchester, NH was traveling southbound on Interstate 93 when he attempted to cross several lanes of heavy traffic in a posted 65 mph zone (45 mph minimum). This movement was reported to be at less than 5 mph and in a perpendicular manner to oncoming traffic.
The investigation revealed that the above action caused a Freightliner commercial vehicle, also traveling south, being operated by Christopher Murphy, age 34, of Hebron to collide with the Accord.
A large Redimix cement truck operated by, James Cleminson, age 30, of Goffstown attempted to avoid a collision and swerved to the right. This action caused the cement truck to overturn and travel down an embankment. Cleminson had to be extricated from the cement truck by emergency personnel.
Interstate 93 south remained open during the investigation.
Ashwayne Rose was subsequently arrested for operating after suspension, 2nd offense and reckless operation.
Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene was The New Hampshire Fish and Game, Hooksett Fire and Rescue, and Concord Rescue. The cement truck was towed from the scene by Duval's Heavy Duty Towing service.
This accident remains under investigation by Trooper Gilary Rosario. Anyone with information pertaining to this accident is asked to contact Trooper Rosario of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks at Gilary.Rosario@dos.nh.gov or (603) 223-3481.
