Recovered Body in Hampton River - Update

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Stephen Gelineau, age 47, of Lowell, MA.  The cause and manner of Gelineau’s death was an accidental drowning.

HAMPTON, New Hampshire – On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Hampton Police Department received a 911 call of a possible body in the Hampton River. Hampton Fire and Police responded by boat and located the body of a male victim. The victim was dressed in fishing attire and believed to have possibly been fishing off the Hampton jetty.

The New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol are working in conjunction with the Hampton Police Department, attempting to positively identify the victim and notify next of kin.
