Rollover Motor Vehicle Crash with Serious Injury, .E. Everett Turnpike North, Mile Marker 14.2 - Merrimack
On July 22, 2021 at approximately 11:25PM, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford were dispatched to the report of a serious motor vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike North in the area of mile marker 14.2 in the town of Merrimack.
Upon arrival, Troopers determined that James Gaudreau (Age 24), Merrimack, NH, had been operating a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse when he lost control of his vehicle and exited the left side of the roadway where he struck the guardrail and rolled over. This vehicle came to final rest on top of the median guardrail.
Mr. Gaudreau was ejected from his vehicle and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. Speed appears to be a contributing factor in this crash, however, all aspects remain under investigation and anyone who witnessed this collision is urged to contact Trooper Tyler Duhamel at Tyler.J.Duhamel@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-8787.
Shortly after this initial crash, there was a secondary two-car crash on the southbound side of the highway in this same area. After witnessing the initial crash, a 2011 Toyota Sienna being operated by Zachary Barnaby (Age 20), Pepperell, MA, had pulled over in an attempt to render aid to Mr. Gaudreau. After doing so, this Sienna was struck by a 2012 Mazda 5 being operated by Joseph Lazarto (Age 44), Chelmsford, MA.
As a result of this secondary collision, Mr. Barnaby sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua.
The New Hampshire State Police was assisted on scene by members of the Merrimack Police and Fire Departments as well as the Department of Transportation. This incident required temporary closure of all northbound and southbound lanes of the F.E. Everett Turnpike in this area.
