Reckless Operation Arrest
Salem, New Hampshire – On November 4, 2022, Troopers from the Special Enforcement Unit concentrated on reducing speed and other hazardous driving behavior on Interstate 93. At approximately 8:35 AM, Trooper Thomas Lombardi was observing traffic northbound in the State Police Aircraft when he observed a Buick Sedan traveling at 111mph on I-93 in Salem. Trooper Lombardi radioed to the ground units. Trooper First Class Scott Garton stopped the vehicle in Salem where the operator was identified as William Martinez-Torres, age 39 from East Boston, MA.
Martinez-Torres was subsequently summonsed for Reckless Operation and is due to appear in the 10th Circuit – District Division – Salem Court on December 8, 2022.
Throughout the rest of the morning commute the Special Enforcement Unit, utilizing the State Police Aircraft, were able to identify 70 motor vehicle violations to include 31 operators traveling over 90mph.
The New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. The members of the unit patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
