School Violence Threat
Stewartstown, New Hampshire – On June 13, 2022 the New Hampshire State Police was made aware of a threat against members of the Canaan Vermont public school. The threat was made known to the New Hampshire State Police after it was initially reported to the Vermont State Police. As a precaution, the Canaan Vermont School issued an order to its students cancelling school for June 14, 2022.
Upon investigation, Shane Gobeil, Age: 36, Canaan, VT, was arrested by the New Hampshire State Police without incident today, June 14, 2022 at approximately 2:45 PM in Colebrook, NH. Mr. Gobeil is charged with Harassment contrary to NH RSA 644:4,I. He was subsequently held on Preventative Detention.
As a precaution, a Trooper was assigned to the Stewartstown, NH Elementary School on June 14, 2022, which is a neighboring school, while the investigation ensued. The New Hampshire State Police are working with staff from SAU #7 to ensure safety of all students and staff.
