Serious Motor Vehicle Crash

CONCORD, New Hampshire – On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop D barracks responded to the report of a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 393 East near Exit 2. 911 callers were reporting the crash had possibly resulted in a fatality. Concord Fire/EMS also responded to the scene and began to treat the adult male operator and juvenile passenger.

Upon arrival, Troopers identified the vehicle as a:

2022 Black Ford Mustang

The male operator was identified as:

Michel Vaillant
Age: 80
Concord, NH

The vehicle had extensive damage and appeared to have struck the cement jersey barrier a multitude of times before coming to rest in the high-speed lane. After conducting an initial investigation and speaking to roadside witnesses, Troopers and EMS personnel believed this crash to be the result of a medical emergency. Alcohol and excessive speed are not believed to be factors in this crash.

The operator was transported to Concord Hospital with life threatening injuries. The juvenile passenger was evaluated by EMS and was found to be uninjured.

The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours to support the roadside investigation. Troop D was assisted on scene by Concord Fire/EMS, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and Above All Collision.
