Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on the Spaulding Turnpike, Dover, NH
On Saturday November 14, 2020, at approximately 5:34 am, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A and G barracks responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on the Spaulding Turnpike just south of the exit 7 southbound on ramp in the City of Dover. The three vehicles involved where identified as a 2004 Subaru Impreza, a 2019 Chevy Silverado and a 2008 Cadillac SRX. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Subaru which was traveling southbound lost control and collided with the guardrail on the right hand side of the roadway. The Chevy pick-up stopped and the operator approached the Subaru to offer assistance. The Cadillac as it approached the scene lost control, colliding with the Subaru then striking the good Samaritan who was the operator of the Chevy pick-up. All aspects of this crash remain under investigation by the NH State Police, however road and weather conditions appear to be contributing factors.
The operator of the Subaru was identified as, Shinta Mambu, age 34 of Dover, New Hampshire. Mambu was transported to Wentworth-Douglas Hospital with minor injuries.
The operator of the Chevy pick-up was identified as, Leo Quirk, age 64, of Effingham, New Hampshire. Quirk was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries to his legs.
The operator of the Cadillac was identified as, Jared Colbath, age 44, of Somersworth, New Hampshire. Colbath was not injured but was transported to Wentworth-Douglas Hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while Troopers investigated the crash and the removal of the vehicles involved and road debris took place. There was minimal impact to the motoring traffic. All traffic was diverted around the crash scene.
Assisting Troop-A at the scene were, Troop-G barracks, the Dover Police and Fire Departments, NH Department of Transportation, and National Wrecker.
