Shooting Incident - Old Chester Turnpike, Chester

On April 1st, 2022 at approximately 11:01PM, the Chester Police Department responded to a residence on Old Chester Turnpike in the Town of Chester, New Hampshire for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, the Chester Police Department determined that an occupied residence had been struck by gunfire, resulting in a 79-year-old male victim sustaining a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and remains in stable condition. No further information pertaining to the identity of the victim is being released at this time.

At the request of the Chester Police Department, Troopers assigned to the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks, responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. State Police investigators remained on scene throughout the night developing investigative leads. At this time, no suspects are in custody in relation to this incident but the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks, at the scene of this incident and/or the ensuing investigation was the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit, the New Hampshire State Police Troop-B Barracks, the New Hampshire State Police Aviation Unit, the Chester Police Department, the Manchester Police Department, the Auburn Police Department, the Candia Police Department, the Sandown Police Department, the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office, and the Chester Fire Department.

Investigators are asking area residents with home surveillance systems to review any such footage for suspicious activity between the hours of 10:30PM and 11:30PM. Investigators further urge members of the public to be cognizant of any suspicious activity and report such to law enforcement.
