Teen Hospitalized After Boating Incident On Lake Winnipesaukee

GILFORD, N.H. – A teenager was taken to the hospital following a boating incident on Lake Winnipesaukee.
At 4:56 p.m. today, Aug. 13, 2024, the New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol responded to the area of Little Camp Island in Gilford after reports indicated a 17-year-old juvenile became unconscious while out tubing with family members.
Marine Patrol officers responded quickly and arrived on the scene within a few minutes of receiving the initial call. Sgt. Nicholas Haroutunian and Marine Patrol Supervisor David Jones immediately boarded the vessel, where the father of the juvenile was attempting life-saving measures. Sgt. Haroutunian and Supervisor Jones continued those life-saving measures while communicating with a responding Gilford Fire Rescue boat.
The juvenile was taken to shore on the Gilford Fire Rescue boat by emergency personnel and later transported to Concord Hospital – Laconia in critical but stable condition.
The New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol was assisted by Gilford Fire Rescue and the Laconia Fire Department.
