Tractor-Trailer Crash
CANTERBURY, New Hampshire – On July 28, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., State Police dispatch received reports of a crash involving two tractor-trailer units on Interstate 93 south in the town of Canterbury. Responding Troopers from the Troop D barracks arrived on scene and located two heavily damaged tractor-trailers, one of which had gone off the right side of the roadway. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
On scene investigation indicates that the tractor-trailer unit driven by:
Daniel T Gagne
Age: 43
Laconia, NH
was a 2016 Kenworth hauling a load of bark. This unit struck the rear end of a bobtail tractor unit driven by:
Robert P Morin Jr.
Age: 66
Weare, NH
After Gagne’s vehicle struck Morin’s, Gagne’s vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, coming to final rest on an embankment in the wood line. Morin was able to bring his vehicle to a stop in the right breakdown lane. The crash is a direct result of driver inattention. Gagne was cited on scene for Following Too Closely.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene. Troop D was assisted on scene by New Hampshire State Police Troop G, the Canterbury Fire Department, Penacook Rescue Squad, Duval’s Towing, and Rusty’s Towing.
