Tractor-Trailer Crashes into Parked Tow Truck
Warner, New Hampshire – On January 23, 2023 New Hampshire State Police Troop D Troopers were on scene with a right lane closure on Interstate 89 South in the town of Warner near mile marker 21.8. At approximately 1:17 PM, a tractor-trailer unit was passing the closure in the left lane, when it lost control and crashed into a parked heavy-duty wrecker and a parked flatbed tow truck owned by Patten's wrecker service that was working within the lane closure on a prior crash scene.
Fortunately, both of the parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the crash, though several workers were outside but were able to avoid the collision. The operator of the tractor-trailer unit was identified as
Donnie Mack Hagins Jr., Age: 35, Shelby, NC
A winter storm was still ongoing at the time of this crash, and the road conditions were snow covered and hazardous. New Hampshire Department of Transportation had lowered the maximum-posted speed limit for the area to 45 mph. Hagins was cited for speed too fast for the existing road conditions. The right lane remained closed for several hours to remove all of the vehicles involved.
New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Patten's wrecker service and SG Reed Truck services assisted New Hampshire State Police on scene.
