Wrong-Way Driver Arrested

LONDONDERRY, New Hampshire – On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at approximately 1:52 a.m., Troopers Winslow and Mason of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks were conducting a motor vehicle stop on the southbound side of Interstate 93 when they observed a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. The Troopers were able to act quickly, intercepting the vehicle on the northbound side of the highway. They were able to successfully stop the vehicle just south of the exit 4 off ramp.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Alfred Khaniarov, age 55, of Miami Beach, FL. Through a 911 translator, Khaniarov informed Troopers that he had turned around to return to his previous destination in Derry and that was how he ended up driving the wrong way on Interstate 93.

Khaniarov was placed under arrest and charged with Reckless Conduct and Reckless Operation. Khaniarov will be arraigned in Derry District court at a later date.
