Wrong Way Driver - Exeter

On 26 August, 2019 at approximately 0055 hours, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A barracks were dispatched to a reported wrong way driver on Route 101 westbound in the area of Exit 9. The wrong way driver was reported by several motorists to be traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Passing motorists reported the wrong way driver to be operating a Silver Honda CRV in the high speed travel lane.

Troopers Bailey, Klimashov, Kimball, Houston and Sanborn responded to the area, slowing and stopping motorists as they approached the wrong way driver. Trooper Bailey located the vehicle and the driver was stopped in the area of Exit 9.

The wrong way driver was identified as Raiden Bento-Whittman, age 18, of Stratham NH. He was subsequently arrested for; Felony Reckless Conduct and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Raiden Bento-Whittmann is scheduled to appear at the Brentwood District Court on September 17, 2019 at 8:00 am.
